Teddy Roosevelt and the American Experience: A Program for Schools and Families
This event has expired and is here for your information.
See a live theatrical performance for schools and families on the life and accomplishments of our 26th president, Theodore Roosevelt.
The City of Roswell is proud to present this special school-day performance, which is open to both schools and the public. Joe Wiegand is the world’s premiere Teddy Roosevelt re-enactor. He looks, sounds and acts like President Roosevelt. He is a scholar and historian and answers questions as TR in real time. It is remarkable and often uncanny to experience Joe’s programs and the way he interacts with students and families. For nearly twenty-five years, Joe Wiegand has performed as Theodore Roosevelt, our nation’s 26th President, champion of conservation and the strenuous life. The show is both inspiring and funny. As Teddy Roosevelt, Joe tells stories of his time as president and of TR’s adventures, from the cattle country of Dakota Territory to the charge up Kettle Hill in Cuba during the Spanish-American War. He remembers the construction of the Panama Canal, his safari in Africa and his exploration of the River of Doubt in the Amazon. During the show, Theodore Roosevelt will talk about his Georgia roots, from Great-Great Grandfather Archibald Bulloch, Revolutionary Governor of Georgia, to his mother, who grew up at Bulloch Hall in Roswell. Did you know that Teddy Roosevelt visited Roswell in 1905? We know you’ll have a bully good time at the Teddy Roosevelt Show.
