Russell Cook & the Sweet Teeth, Adam Klein at Gypsy Rose Music
This event has expired and is here for your information.
Northwest Georgia’s Russell Cook & the Sweet Teeth will perform at Roswell's Gypsy Rose Music on March 14th, along with Adam Klein. Music at 7:30 pm.
Russell Cook & the Sweet Teeth is the new two-guitar and drums juke-joint style trio from Russell Cook of Little Country Giants. Featuring the vocals, guitar, and songwriting of Cook, the sparkling guitar work of Scotty Knight (Dirt Dobbers, Black Diamond Heavies) and ace drummer Jeremy Clark, Russell Cook & the Sweet Teeth use sharp-edged songwriting to open up a vein of electrified Americana and country blues. In a live show, the Sweet Teeth push the music to see where it will go, using songs as the structure but staying open to improvisation and playing in the moment. They are playing in support of their recent EP Live in the Library, recorded in the Chattanooga Public Library and broadcast on WUTC.
Russell co-wrote and recorded six albums and toured widely fronting the Little Country Giants, which were voted Atlanta's Best Folk Act by Creative Loafing Magazine, and awarded with the “Emerging Artist of the Year” by the Rome Area Council for the Arts in Rome, Georgia.
His music has been featured in a handful of award-winning films, including the documentary about Georgia’s organic farmers, GROW, which uses music by the Little Country Giants as the soundtrack, and most recently To Kingdom Come, a film about the effects of industrial pollution in North Georgia's rivers.
He also had the opportunity to work with T. Bone Burnett and perform in the Stephen King and John Mellencamp musical, the Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, in 2013. Cook has performed all across the United States at music halls, barrooms and festivals, including Nightfall, Pickathon, Bristol Rhythm and Roots, Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Athfest, and more.
