Roswell Youth Theatre Kidz Auditions: Seussical KIDS

Roswell Youth Theatre invites student performers to audition for RYT Kidz’ production of Seussical KIDS, open to all 3rd-5th grade students.

Register to audition for Roswell Youth Theatre Kidz’ production of Seussical KIDS. Must audition and be cast in order to register for the program. Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical KIDS, a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime). Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many "thinks." Horton's challenge is twofold — not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! Audition Dates and Times Tuesday, January 19 OR Thursday, January 21, 2027 Arrive between 3:00-3:15 to sign in and fill out an audition application. Only attend 1 night, must stay the entire time Students MUST be available for callbacks if needed. Please note that not receiving a callback does not mean you will not be cast. Audition Location Crabapple Center Blackbox Theatre 10700 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, GA 30075 Age Requirements 3rd-5th Grade (as of 9/1/2026) For the audition, please prepare: - 30-second comedic or dramatic monologue memorized - 30-second cut of a broadway style song (no rapping Hamilton or acapella singing) with digital accompaniment. - Dress comfortably for the dance portion of the audition. Be prepared to learn show choreography as part of the audition process. Rehearsals Rehearsals are mandatory at this level: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-5:30 pm Rehearsal dates: January 26 - May 1, mandatory. Rehearsals held in Roswell Area Park, Bill Johnson Community Activity Building. Tech/Dress rehearsal week: May 3 - May 7 mandatory. Tech/Dress rehearsals held at the Bill Johnson Community Activity Building. Performances Performance date: Saturday, May 8, 2027 at 1 and 3PM Performances held at the Bill Johnson Community Activity Building Must be available for all shows.
