Museum After-Hours: Punching Up The Punch Card Exhibit

Join the Computer Museum of America on Friday, June 23rd from 5:30 – 9:00 PM as they unveil a refresh to CMoA’s punch card exhibit. The expanded exhibit tells the story of how punched cards became so prevalent and depended upon in modern computing. From Jacquard’s Loom to Herman Hollerith’s invention of electromechanical processing of cards to tabulate data for the 1890 census, to the late 20th-century use of the IBM family of punch card machines, the punch card was revolutionary at the time. They were even used for matchmaking at the University of Iowa in 1963!
Join us for the exhibit refresh unveiling, punch a souvenir card on an IBM 029, and explore the other exhibits while enjoying live music, complimentary light bites, and a cash bar.

Tickets are $25.00 if purchased in advance.
Limited tickets at the door are $30.00.
