Book Club with Guest, John Doyle
A discussion of American freedom — past, present, and future.
Come join the Roswell Historical Society Book Club for a discussion of American freedom—past, present, and future. In this special session, we will examine the ideals of the Declaration of Independence and explore how they connect to Frederick Douglass’s powerful critique of early America. We are thrilled to welcome historical interpreter John Doyle, who recently brought multiple historical figures to life including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Booker T. Washington, and Alonzo Herndon. Doyle will be joining us to read a selected excerpt from Frederick Douglass’s "What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?" This meeting is part of a special day of free community events in the city. Book Club begins at 2:00 PM, perfectly timed so everyone can head over to the City’s free World Cup watch party at Roswell City Hall at 3:00 PM, and wrap up the evening with the free Dixieland jazz concert at Roswell Town Square at 5:30 PM.
