History Seek Saturdays: American Folk Music for Kids

Children learn about the origins of American folk music in the context of a live performance.

Introduce your family to the heartbeat of America through its iconic folk and patriotic songs. American Folk Music for Kids is a lively, interactive program where children and families can sing along, dance, and learn about the origins of American folk music. Songs like “This Land is Your Land,” “John Henry,” “City of New Orleans,” and “500 Miles” are part of this fun and educational journey into the music that shaped America’s history. Drop in for a while or stay for the entire program. This program is held at the Old Machine Shop at Vickery Creek, next to the covered bridge. Park in the Old Mill Park lot next to the park entrance.
