Wedded Bliss

A look at Roswell's private wedding venues, through the lens of a local photographer.

“The difference between an ordinary marriage and an extraordinary marriage is in giving just a little extra every day, as often as possible, for as long as we both shall live.” – Fawn Weaver

Roswell has cemented its place as a top wedding destination in the state of Georgia. Offering a variety of privately-owned and operated venues, along with those owned by the City of Roswell, our destination often welcomes multiple weddings each weekend, from spring through late fall. But instead of us sharing what makes our city special, we brought in local photographer Abby Byrd of Abby Byrd Photography to provide her take on each of Roswell's wedding-focused special events venues.

Roswell is the quintessential town for a couple to host their wedding, as its unique southern charm will welcome guests for a weekend full of celebrating love. Whether it's the lively Canton Street, the serene streets in-between, the rushing water of Vickery Creek within Old Mill Park, or the feeling of stepping into history, Roswell has a little something for everyone. Many of my local couples grew up in this town, so that makes it even more special for them and their families!

NAYLOR HALL. A classic Southern charmer, Naylor Hall is perfectly positioned in the heart of Canton Street. Sunny Bailey and her team have done a beautiful job with this historic property. Sunlight spills into the stunning front parlor room, making it my favorite place for bridal portraits. One of the things I love most about this venue is that you can host your guests on the front lawn for dinner. With the energy of Canton Street just steps away, it’s such a delightful way to enjoy a beautiful outdoor celebration. Downtown Roswell visitors walking by can’t help but smile when they see the joy of celebration occurring at Naylor Hall. Who doesn’t love a wedding?!

PRIMROSE COTTAGE. Located on the quaint and serene street of Mimosa Boulevard in Historic Roswell, Primrose Cottage is perfectly located while feeling worlds away. The front lawn in front of the three-story estate makes it the perfect spot for classic portraits. Behind the home, the luscious garden is my favorite spot for dreamy and romantic portraits with the newlyweds. A Divine Event manages their catering, so I know the food is always going to be amazing.

KIMBALL HALL. Recently acquired by the team of Little River Farms in Alpharetta, Kimball Hall is the perfect addition to their family of venues. I enjoy working with this team, so I was excited to hear that they welcomed and renovated this vintage and charming space. The historic two-story house is steps away from the lively Canton Street. The back of the home is a charming garden and I absolutely love doing portraits at the white picket fence arbor wrapped in beautiful ivy.

Roswell Historic Hall. Glamorous chandeliers hang above the exposed brick ballroom making this venue both warm and inviting. It’s the perfect mix of contemporary rustic for couples who love both. I photographed a beautiful October wedding there where the cocktail hour was hosted outside. After the ceremony at a nearby church, guests arrived to the couple's celebration straight from Canton Street. The atmosphere was truly among all the good weekend vibes of Downtown Roswell and it was the perfect way to get the party started!

IVY HALL/ROSWELL MILL CLUB. Nestled along Vickery Creek, Ivy Hall/Roswell Mill Club is a rustic and elegant venue with a picturesque setting. Most notably, the covered bridge is a very popular spot among photographers and their clients. Ivy Hall allows for couples to host their ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. The reception space is upstairs, whereas the ceremony and cocktail hour space is downstairs. I love being able to photograph the ballroom setup untouched while guests are enjoying themselves.
