A day in Roswell - indoors and outside with a Roswell local!

As a Roswell Resident since 2001, and a Roswell Tourism Ambassador, I was thrilled with the challenge to go out, spend a day in Roswell, find and engage in local activities, eat great food, and share some of my favorites, as well as try new things. Here is my “Day in Roswell—Indoors & Outside” from a recent Saturday in August that I can recommend to all of you!

Breakfast at Sublime Tree

Start your Day at Sublime Tree-Juice Bar & Smoothies. It’s the perfect spot for grab-n-go breakfast. I tried their signature “Summer Sippin” drink, the Strawberry Gingerade Smoothie and Pesto Avocado Toast. Quick and easy to order on-line for pick-up or order at their Drive-Thru window.

Morning Stroll at Roswell Area Park

I took my breakfast to enjoy at Roswell Area Park. One of the largest public parks in the city, it offers trails, playgrounds, sports fields, outdoor swimming pool, a rec centers for basketball, gymnastics, and art.

I chose to visit one of my favorite outdoor spots - the Duck Pond. Driving through the park, turn right onto Emmett Rushin Cir, and just past the outdoor swimming pool, there is plenty of parking by the Visual Arts Center (Building D). This is a true hidden gem. Wonderful local art and sculptures all around the grounds, a covered picnic pavilion and an easy trail around the lake to enjoy the ducks and Canadian Geese. I chose the swinging benches for the best view of the water.

Plus, had a great shaded spot to walk and enjoy the trails around the park, and found several outdoor art sculptures on display—part of the Roswell Art Funds “free outdoor museum" Art Around Roswell. Don’t miss “Jack Was Optimistic” by Chris Plaisted—it’s the metal tree art at the waters edge. Also stop at the Sculpture Garden behind the Visual Arts Center with four more sculptures by George Long and Mario Schambon.

Head indoors to the Computer Museum of America

As it gets hotter in the afternoon, the perfect indoor spot is exploring The Computer Museum of America. Open Fridays and Saturdays, the CMoA houses one of the world’s largest collections of artifacts from the digital revolution. As a kid growing up in the 80’s, it was nostalgic to see all the early computers, video games, and tech toys I remember. There is a vast array of Super Computers, a Timeline of Computer History, and a fascinating NASA exhibit –The Apollo 11 Space Race to the Moon.

Dinner at Lucky's Burgers & Brew

I had to end the day at one of my favorite’s-Lucky’s Burgers & Brew. Since 2010, they have offered great burgers, sandwiches, salads, wings and beer in a casual dog-friendly spot here in Roswell. Yes, you can bring your pooch to join you for outdoor patio dining! I am a super fan of their burgers, the Grilled Mahi Sandwich, and you gotta have the tater tots.

You have the option of indoor dining or outdoor dining on their covered front porch, their expanded outdoor side patio or open table seating around their new “backyard” lawn. You can often enjoy a concert at “Lucky’s Live Roswell”, play Bingo Night, join a Team Trivia and more.
