Big Kid Lunchables
Sweet dreams are made of cheese. Who am I to dis a Brie?
Okay, so, maybe “Big Kid Lunchables” may not quite be the right way to describe these amazing meat and cheese platters you can find throughout our city. One thing we know is for sure, though: We become big kids when these spreads are placed on the tables before us, and this community certainly doesn’t lack in amazing options that will allow you to snack to your heart’s content. In this blogpost, we highlight our favorite spots to munch on some of the best charcuterie boards in Roswell.
This speakeasy-style restaurant and pub in the heart of Roswell’s Canton Street offers globally-inspired cuisine and a sophisticated variety of cocktails and spirits. With an impressive menu that features a robust selection of options, 1920 Tavern allows patrons the opportunity to “build your own” plates, with three to five choices that range in pricing from $17.00 to $26.00. We can’t get enough of the Prosciutto di Parma, Spicy Salami and Dill Havarti.
The new kid on the block, located within Roswell’s up-and-coming Oak Street, Casa Robles (which means Oak House), features traditional Spanish tapas and bold Latin American influences from Chef Laura Orellana, who was born in El Salvador and trained in Seville, Spain. The décor and design of the restaurant’s interior spaces is a sight to see as well. Order the Tabla de Quesos y Chacinas to indulge in Chef’s selection of cured meats, cheeses and accompaniments. We’re big fans of the mix of olives, as well.
Situated right smack in the middle of Downtown Roswell’s Plum Tree Street, Madrid Spanish Taverna imports the absolute best in quality products from Spain, including hard-to-find Pata Negra Iberian Ham, Salchichón, and Chorizo. Taking great care in hand-carving all of their hams daily, the restaurant devotes a portion of its menu to embutidos, tablas and charcuterie, with options that range in pricing from $25.00 to $38.00. Our favorite? The Tabla Mix con Jamon Iberico, which includes Iberico ham, Manchego® cheese, Dehesa® Iberico chorizo & salchichon.
Known for its down-to-earth atmosphere, The Mill Kitchen & Bar provides a casual vibe that’s heightened by its mouth-watering cuisine and culinary-inspired cocktails. With a menu that changes seasonally, The Mill also takes pride in the many local farmers and providers that have become a part of the restaurant’s successes. Priced at $23.00, The Mill’s charcuterie platter also features Chef’s selections of meats, cheeses and accompaniments. Pro tip: Whiskey drinkers will definitely want to order the Smoked Old Fashioned to pair with dinner.
Osteria: a community gathering place for fresh pasta and fantastic wine. Osteria Mattone provides the Trattoria dining room for a fine, coursed dinner, while the casual Osteria bar dining room is perfect for pizza and a Peroni. The menu of Italian dishes centers on classic Roman cuisine, and their sommelier Daniel’s wine list has won Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence every year since the restaurant’s opening in 2013. Order the Salumi e Formaggi, which includes Chef’s selection of cured meats and cheeses. For an enhanced experience, request to dine in the working wine room …just bring an extra layer of clothing.
